For over 20 years, members of our firm have been assisting clients from across Canada, including in Canada’s Arctic, to achieve practical and cost effective solutions to their Indigenous law issues.
We pride ourselves on our ability to focus on our clients’ goals. In those instances where the current state of the law might not suggest an obvious solution, we work to advance new and creative ways to achieve those goals.
In support of our clients’ goals, we maintain a well-rounded, successful, innovative and experienced team of lawyers to help resolve our clients’ issues whether inside or outside the courtroom.
We help our clients in such diverse areas as commercial transactions, complex tax planning and trust structuring, First Nation governance, labour relations, economic development, impact-benefit agreements, the negotiation and implementation of treaty entitlement agreements, other agreements such as resource development and resource management agreements.
We also represent our clients in all levels of courts, including the Superior courts of the Provinces, the Federal Courts and the Supreme Court of Canada. We successfully represent our clients in all manner of constitutional cases, including Treaty and Aboriginal rights issues, consultation and accommodation issues, governance issues, and issues requiring Judicial Review of ministerial and government decisions.
Where litigation is neither desired nor appropriate, we employ our significant experience in developing and implementing solutions based on alternate dispute resolution models.
Whatever the nature of the Indigenous law issue, Duboff Edwards Schachter has the knowledge, experience and ability to help you achieve your goals.
